*Yes, I'm that Chinese girl!*

Garbo's style is always hard to define in any single word. She looks suitable for any style, but you can always tell there's a hidden clue to state hers.

Last January, we came up with the idea of doing a collaboration with Garbo inspired by her own unique style and the collection is finally completed > <

  • How did you come up with this "Chinese girl" theme?

    When we first decided on having this collaboration, we were originally inspired by photos and memories. But as time progressed, same as my style, we decided to go for something closer to our roots of being Chinese. I am passionate about showing off my culture to the world as someone that left home at 14. “Yes, I’m that Chinese Girl” is a proud statement that I want to scream out every time someone asks me where I’m from.We took elements from Papi Lav’s design DNA and my personal style for this collection - whimsy feminine touches with a Chinese twist.

  • Did you have any new experience during the design process? (Anything not in your expectation?)

    This is my first clothing collaboration ever and I was so excited when Papi Lav reached out!! I’ve been wearing her clothes since before I was a mom, 4 hours after birth, and then now!

    Before this, I thought clothing design means lots of sampling and decision-making, and it turns out it requires TONS!! You really have to know what the end vision is going to look like the entire time.

  • What's your favorite piece from this collection?

    My favorite is definitely the brown and baby yellow silk set. Shooting with it on in Central Hong Kong feels like I’m living my 富太太 (wealthy wife) fantasy.

  • Do you think you went out of your comfort zone somehow?

    One thing I did out of my comfort zone is saying yes to dresses with a looser silhouette. I’m a snatched waist girl usually, but when Da Ning put that lilac dress on me, I was blown away by how cute and comfy it was. Proves the point that style doesn’t mean discomfort!

  • And also, since we are a brand about LOVE, would you like to share your love stories or some love tips for our girls?

    Vincent and I met 10 years ago on a dating app. Our first date was at the aquarium, where we both didn’t talk much and neither of us expected there to be more than a few dates. And BAM!! Yesterday we went back to the aquarium with my bb Émile. My advice for a long-term relationship is to not compare your relationship to others, especially the ones you see online. Think us against the world instead of me against my partner. And stay curious in the other person, in their interests, jobs, and their relationships. <3 Stay in love, bbs​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
